KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Thanksgiving is starting early in Killeen!

On Tuesday, the city’s food care center distributed meals to families. Over 700 families came through the door.

Many active duty soldiers and veterans received meals.

The food care center was just one of 19 food pantry’s that participated in this year’s Food for Families - donating money and food to help others.

“With Food for Families we were able to get a donation of over 91,000 pounds of food and so our team of staff and volunteers have come in early 5:00 this morning so that we can continue to feed the need here in Killeen and Copperas Cove,” Executive Director of the Killeen Food Care Center Dr. Natasha Sunday Clarke said.
