The man who pleaded guilty on Monday to being part of a conspiracy to kill members of a street gang was attacked in a Montreal jail just before a court date in the case earlier this year.

Defence lawyer Marylie Còté revealed on Tuesday that her client, Félix Tremblay, 23, was attacked inside a provincial detention centre in Montreal on June 10. The attorney mentioned the attack while asking that Tremblay receive more credit than normal for time served against the sentence recommendation Quebec Superior Court Justice Éric Downs received on Monday.

The judge has been asked to sentence Tremblay to a 19-year prison term for conspiring with several other men to kill members of a gang called Downtown Project, and their allies, as well as a 15-year sentence for manslaughter. On Monday, Tremblay
