Chatham-Kent police responded to 202 stolen vehicle complaints in 2024 and is reminding the community to be vigilant, especially if you own a pickup truck.

Data collected by police on stolen vehicles locally last year shows pickup trucks are targeted at significantly higher rates compared to vehicles.

The 18 thefts of GMC Sierra pickup trucks made it the most frequently stolen vehicle model in 2024 with Chevy Silverado pickup ranking second at 15 vehicles stolen, according data provided by police. The theft of nine Dodge Ram pickups and eight Ford 150 pickups ranked third and fourth, according to the data.

The fifth ranked most stolen vehicle was Kawasaki motorcycles with five reported stolen last year.
