Face masks and vaccines, especially for those with respiratory issues, have been recommended for the winter months by health bosses at Gateshead civic centre.
Responding to questions from Gateshead councillors following a presentation on the borough's winter preparedness, regional health officials are recommending those with lung conditions to consider face coverings.
Chair of the system winter resilience group, Joanne Halliwell said: “I think it is a personal choice, I also think that if you are attending somewhere and you yourself have a respiratory infection it may be something you want to consider.
