Downtown Vancouver’s Esther Short Park will be buzzing with activity Friday as residents gather for the raising of the new city flag, the annual Christmas tree lighting and the return of the Salmon Run Bell Tower’s chime.
The 3 p.m. flag raising will kick off the day’s festivities at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St. Then, the party will move to the Esther Short Park Plaza, 605 Esther St., where Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle will welcome the community and present the new flag’s designers with a key to the city.
The city unveiled its new flag design earlier this month , which was selected from public submissions.
Attention will then turn to the 69-foot Salmon Run Bell Tower, as the mayor remarks on the refurbishment of the tower and glockenspiel bells. The bells are set to r
