The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning that ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula may be unsafe following an outbreak of infant botulism in the United States. Though no cases have been reported in Canada, the products are available for sale online and should not be consumed.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), at least 31 babies in 15 states who drank various lots of ByHeart formula have been hospitalized with suspected or confirmed infant botulism since the outbreak started in early August . Weak and unable to feed, the infants ranged in age from roughly two weeks to six months when they were admitted. All ByHeart products have been recalled, and no deaths have been reported.
