The Tuesday morning fire at a Sykesville home was intentional, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.
The house fire was reported some time in the 8 a.m. hour on Sherry Drive in Sykesville.
State fire investigators said that an estranged husband forced his way into his wife’s home, locked her out, poured gasoline and set the house on fire.
Authorities said the man confessed to police.
He was taken to a hospital, from which he was released after receiving treatment for smoke inhalation and burns.
No further information was immediately available.
This is a developing report.
