Over 200 people amassed on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 25 to celebrate the official ribbon cutting and opening of the new Martin Middle School.
Members of the school band serenaded attendees gathered in the new cafeteria with lively music to begin the event, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the school chorus.
Many involved in the process of getting the $129 million school built, which was the product of a $148 million bond passed by voters in 2022, provided remarks.
Speakers included Superintendent Sandra Forand, who reflected on her journey from attending the school as a child to now presiding over the process of building a new one as superintendent; as well as Secretary of State, Gregg Amore; RIDE Commissioner of Education Angelica Infante-Green; M
