LEXINGTON, N.C. — An early-morning fire at a home on Kimberly Lane in Lexington killed two adults and one child on Tuesday, according to the Davidson County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fire crews responded to the scene around 4:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a motorhome engulfed in flames next to the house, with the fire spreading into the home.
Five people were asleep inside at the time. Investigators said the fire trapped three of them — two adults and one child. Firefighters got the child out and rushed to the hospital, but the child ultimately died. Fire officials said the two other adults who were trapped inside the home had already died, and there was no hope of a rescue.
Two other adults escaped. One of the survivors was treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital.
