BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Four Gainesville High football players had their suspensions lifted in an appeal hearing Tuesday after 39 members of the team were suspended for their next playoff game following a brawl Friday night.
The bench-clearing fight ended last week’s playoff game against Brunswick with under two minutes left on the clock in the third quarter. The Red Elephants were leading 42–0 when officials halted the game, and they were awarded a win.
Gainesville High AD Adam Lindsey indicated that, while the suspensions will severely deplete the team's roster, they are still preparing to play Langston Hughes in the next, quarterfinal round.
"Gainesville will continue to exhaust all options for this appeal as our players continue to prepare for the football game on Friday night at Langston
