Building on the all-time record performance of “ Chespirito : Not Really on Purpose,” HBO Max in Latin America is expanding the universe with two new series: “Don Ramón,” inspired by the original character from Roberto Gómez Bolaños’s legendary 1970s sitcom “El Chavo del Ocho.”

“Don Ramón was one of the funniest and unique characters in the ‘Chavo del Ocho’ original series,” said Mariano César , senior VP, general entertainment content and programming strategy for HBO Max in Latin America. The live action single-camera comedy will be a “great opportunity to have a more young adult adult kind of humor and content because it was a very unique character in that particular universe,” he added saying HBO Max is initiating conversations with potential screenwriters.
