FREEPORT, Ill. (KWQC) - A Freeport man was arrested on charges of threating an Illinois State Senator on Tuesday.
Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney contacted the Illinois State Police in September about threats he got from Joseph Haggerty, 59, according to a media release.
Haggerty was charged with two counts of felony threating a public official on Monday, officials said. He turned himself in on Tuesday in Cook County.
Police said he was taken back to Stephenson County, where he remains in custody.
