California’s attorney general sued the Trump Administration to block federal cuts to permanent housing subsidies.

Local officials say those cuts could cause 5,000 L.A. County households to lose their homes.

The lawsuit, filed with 19 state AGs and two governors, alleges the Trump Administration violated the law in several ways, including taking power reserved for Congress.

California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta sued the Trump Administration Tuesday seeking to stop a federal policy change that advocates say could force 170,000 formerly homeless Americans back on the streets or into shelters.

The lawsuit focuses on a federal program known as Continuum of Care that sends money to local governments and nonprofits to fight homelessness .
