Nancy Bass Wyden, owner of New York City’s The Strand bookstore and wife of Democratic U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon, has filed a new suit in her dispute with the estate of a former assistant who died by suicide after claiming the couple’s children harassed him and that Bass Wyden failed to stop it.
In her suit filed in October in New York lower court, Bass Wyden makes her own extraordinary claims, alleging that the former assistant, Brandon O’Brien, stole more than $600,000 in money and clothes from her, as well as books from The Strand, and that O’Brien’s husband helped him do it.
The dueling lawsuits paint two very different pictures of O’Brien’s time with Bass Wyden starting in June 2022.
