TOWN OF SYLVESTER, Wis. (WKOW) — The Green County Sheriff's Office released more information on a deadly plane crash that happened Monday near the Monroe Municipal Airport.
Two people who were inside the plane died in the crash. The sheriff's office identified them as a 43-year-old man from Oshkosh and a 41-year-old man from Omro. The agency did not give their names.
"Our condolences and thoughts are with the grieving families," Sheriff Cody Kanable said in a statement.
The fixed wing airplane was inbound to land at the Monroe Municipal Airport and crashed in a gravel quarry adjacent to State Highway 59. Emergency crews responded to the scene at 5:14 p.m. Upon arrival, a deputy reported a large fire involving construction equipment and a significant debris field from the aircraft.
