Hartford police are cracking down this holiday season on porch pirates. They say they’re monitoring hotspots for package thefts in the area and putting out decoy packages.

We spoke with people living in the west end who say they’ve experienced package thefts for years.

A lot of thought goes into something you order, you’re looking forward to giving it to someone or using it yourself,” said Dectora Jeffers. "We had something delivered from our daughter in Copenhagen. It was stolen. I ordered something else; it was stolen."

“Coffee, like a big bag, five pounds of coffee, that’s happened a couple of times. Violin cases, strings, some Christmas gifts, shoes,” said Randall Reid. "It's not great. What can you do?"
