SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Animal Protective League invites the community to remember those who have made an impact on their lives during its annual Tree of Lights event.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1001 Taintor Road, with a poetry reading and a chance for those in attendance to share memories.

The ceremony provides a space for the public to honor loved ones, whether they are human or four-legged.

Tree of Lights messages can be submitted through Dec. 31 and will be featured in a presentation during the ceremony, along with being published on the APL's website.

Lights are available for purchase online or at the APL shelter office.
