MADISON (WKOW) -- Ahead of small business Saturday, Dane Buy Local and Dane County leaders are advocating for local businesses.
Small businesses bring in a large amount of income during the holidays.
Local leaders highlighted that income as a reason small business Saturday is important. The day urges community members to buy local.
"For every one dollar you spend, usually it's three dollars, but two to four dollars will re-circulate into our community depending on the industry which is two to four more than a chain," said Meghan Stern, interim executive director of Dane Buy Local.
Small Business Saturday has been a national effort since 2010 to uplift locally owned shops during the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
