Syracuse, N.Y. ― A former Syracuse anti-violence outreach worker this week was sentenced to prison for selling drugs on the job.
Ahmed Abdi, 33, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was sentenced Monday to six years in prison in exchange for his guilty pleas.
Abdi and Cassieum Pitts, 28, admitted to selling drugs while working as employees of Syracuse Cure Violence (also known as SNUG) on multiple occasions.
They sold cocaine and methamphetamines near the Southwest Community Center on South Avenue, as well as near a SNUG office on North Midler Avenue, prosecutors have said.
Pitt was sentenced to nine years in prison.
