HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) — A person died Monday after exchanging gunfire with Hill County deputies during a welfare check, according to the Hill County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened when a deputy went to check on someone in the 400 block of Hill County Road 4243 in Hillsboro during the morning hours of Nov. 24.
While trying to make contact at the front door of a home, the deputy was confronted by the individual, who was armed with a handgun, the sheriff’s office reported. The person pulled out the gun and pointed it at the deputy, leading to gunfire between them.
