ROGERS -- The sounds of machinery and enthusiastic chatter filled the room as students got hands-on in their effort to support families this holiday season.
Rogers School District Superintendent Jeff Perry and a small group of high school students gathered Tuesday to create wooden Christmas gifts, such as cutting boards and decorations, from scratch. The gifts will be distributed to families with single or homeless parents during an event in mid-December.
"A lot of people take care of their kids during the holidays, but nobody thinks about the single parents," Perry said.
Children with single or homeless parents will be able to pick up a gift during the December event, and helpers will assist them in wrapping it up to give to their parent or guardian.
