LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Fire Department is urging the community to use extreme caution ahead of Thanksgiving as officials warn that frying turkeys outdoors can be especially dangerous given current windy and dry conditions.
Since Halloween, the department has responded to 13 serious fires. Officials say inexperienced cooks should think twice before frying a turkey and always follow safety procedures.
“Since Halloween, we’ve had 13 serious fires, and it’s very dangerous, especially with the holidays coming up and the frying of the turkeys. Just be aware that it’s still a little windy out there. There’s still some dry grass, so if you all are going to be doing anything outdoors, try not to rely on TikTok videos and things like that. Even if you think you might be able to handle it
