The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Pontiac Police Department about two suspicious vehicles linked to ATM thefts in Illinois and Michigan. The vehicles, a black Toyota Corolla with Wisconsin plates and a silver Kia Sorento with possible Michigan plates, were known for frequently changing plates. The occupants, believed to be Hispanic males, were associated with multiple ATM thefts.

Pontiac Police informed deputies about a "Master" ATM key and electronic devices that could bypass alarms. Early on Sunday, November 23, deputies found one vehicle at West State Road 45 and South Leonard Springs Road. After observing the car, they stopped it on I-69 for a traffic infraction.
