A heavy snowstorm may be an uninvited guest at some Pennsylvania Thanksgiving meals this year.
The National Weather Service has issued both a Wind Advisory and a Lake Effect Snow Warning for northwestern Pennsylvania, as well as parts of Ohio.
Gusts of wind between 30 and 50 miles per hour are expected to start Wednesday in northern Erie County, and continue through Thursday night.
Then, overnight on Wednesday, “Heavy lake effect snow expected” in northwestern Pennsylvania, reads the alert.
“Total snow accumulations between 8 and 12 inches are likely over much of the area,” it says. “Locally higher amounts are possible across inland Erie County PA where a few locations could see up to 18 inches of snow.”
