Rumors online have claimed that one ex- WWE star is causing issues backstage in AEW, but that claim has been dismissed by two insiders. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports the notion that Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, doesn't like to take losses on TV is false. The report echoes what Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has also said.

Mone is in the midst of a belt collector gimmick. In addition to her AEW TBS Championship, Mone has also captured titles from several independent promotions. The storyline is that for all the belts Mone is able to capture, she has yet to win the AEW Women's World Championship.
