The winningest public-school program in New Jersey boys basketball history has brought back a familiar face.

Jason Harrigan, who was an assistant for two seasons in 2019 and 2020, is expected to be approved tonight as the new coach at Camden by the district’s board of education.

Harrigan replaces Maalik Wayns, who stepped down in May after three seasons. Wayns posted a 75-14 record, directing Camden to back-to-back South Jersey Group 2 titles in 2024 and 2025. The Panthers shared the Olympic National crown with Paul VI last season after winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024.

Camden finished 22-9 overall last season, earning the No. 9 ranking in the final statewide Top 20. The Panthers lost to eventual state champion Manasquan in the Group 2 state semifinals.
