Pete Carroll said the Raiders had to make a “tough call” in firing offensive coordinator Chip Kelly .

The Las Vegas head coach explained the decision Monday when he spoke with reporters after the dismissal .

Kelly left his Ohio State offensive coordinator gig to join the Raiders earlier this year on a reported $6 million contract, but Carroll opted to make the move after the Raiders fell to the Browns on Sunday and dropped to 2-9.

Carroll insisted there was no ill will between the two, and they didn’t really have differing opinions per se.
