LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Emmy-winning hip hop artist Devine Carama is performing for 50 hours straight in Lexington to raise awareness for his annual youth coat drive after receiving fewer donations than usual this year.
Carama, a local activist who has hosted his “A Coat to Keep the Cold Away” youth coat drive for 12 years, said he is using his music career to bring attention to the cause.
Through his non-profit Believing in Forever Inc., he has collected thousands of new coats to distribute to children in Eastern and Central Kentucky.
“At this stage in my career, I’m trying to figure out how can I leverage being this Emmy award-winning hip hop artist to do something that builds and increases community and so that’s the reason I’m out here today,” Carama said.
