PHOENIX — In the bustling family dining room at St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, where hundreds gather daily for a hot meal and a moment of dignity, one volunteer stands out, not just for her dedication but for the warmth she brings to every interaction.

Donna Williams, a Navy veteran who once served her country in Germany, Puerto Rico and Florida, has found a new mission in retirement - serving her community three days a week at one of Phoenix’s most vital charitable organizations.

“Retiring is wonderful, and being able to give back is even more better,” Williams said with a smile, standing amid the busy lunch rush.

During a typical meal, volunteers serve about 300 people, who depend on St. Vincent de Paul for nutritious meals.
