A grandad left unable to walk after a fall in Croatia will this week make a 30-hour journey home for further treatment in the UK. Brian Ackroyd has now been in hospital in Dubrovnik for a month with injuries including a fractured skull and a broken C2 vertebrae.
The father-of-three, originally from Teesville , also suffered nerve damage and three bleeds on the brain after falling in Cavtat on the first morning of his holiday. After spending several days in intensive care, the 65-year-old is now on a neurology ward in Dubrovnik General.
