MONROE, La. (KNOE) - AT&T and Asurion sponsored today’s donation, giving away 50 bags of turkey and canned goods to pre-selected families.
The event was to help families struggling financially due to the delays in federal funding. The United Way reports applications for Aid this holiday season have doubled due to the government shutdown.
“We will continue our work with the government shutdown. To help front-load families and additional families with the support they needed through the holiday season to ensure that everybody was able to have food during Thanksgiving,” NELA United Way Digital Marketing engagement manager Sydney Key says.
