DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Governor Kim Reynolds pardoned two turkeys at the Governor’s mansion Tuesday morning in an annual tradition ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Wing-ding and Tailfeather were the turkeys selected for this year’s ceremony. Reynolds proclaimed the birds as symbols of Iowa’s turkey industry.

“Therefore, I, Kim Reynolds, Governor of the great state of Iowa, do proudly proclaim Tailfeather and Wing-ding as symbols of Iowa’s great turkey industry, and they are free to roam this Thanksgiving holiday,” Reynolds said.

The turkeys were raised by Iowa Turkey Federation President and farmer Josh Berg and his family in Early, Iowa. Berg said his farm produced around a million turkeys this year.
