Donald Trump has confirmed which of his top officials will be heading to meet Vladimir Putin in Moscow as he tries to push through a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine

Donald Trump is sending one of his top officials to meet Vladimir Putin in a desperate attempt to salvage his Ukraine peace deal.

Writing on Truth Social this evening, Trump claimed his plan to end the war in Ukraine has been "fine-tuned" - and confirmed he was sending US envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with Putin in Moscow.

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll will meanwhile hold a separate meeting with Ukrainian officials. Trump suggested he could eventually meet with Putin and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky in person - but not until further progress has been made in negotiations.
