CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Clarksville nonprofit has seen demand for food assistance nearly triple as families continue to struggle financially.
Urban Ministries now distributes up to 15,000 pounds of food weekly, with supplies nearly depleted by week’s end.
The organization packed food boxes for families ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday as demand continues to grow.
“We went from an average of about 250 boxes a month to last month we did 687 boxes,” said Jodi McBryant, Urban Ministries executive director.
McBryant said the need for all Urban Ministries services is growing, including utility assistance, clothing and their emergency warming shelter.
Phillip Hughes picked up a food box after losing his job suddenly.
“It seems to me we’re all going through it in one way shape or form
