SEATTLE — Amtrak says it is preparing for one of its busiest Thanksgiving travel weeks on record, driven in part by a surge of riders across the Pacific Northwest. The company recently reported record revenue and year-round ridership in 2025, and officials say holiday travel will follow the same trend.

Olivia Irvin with Amtrak said both Thanksgiving week and overall ridership have climbed sharply.

“We just saw record numbers, both for Thanksgiving week and also across the board year-round. We're really excited to see more and more people take train travel and take advantage of it. There were millions last year for the week of Thanksgiving, so we're expecting it again,” Irvin said.

She noted that the growth is not a one-time spike but part of a consistent increase in riders.
