Timberwolves could sign 26.7 PPG free agent to make up for declining Mike Conley

The Minnesota Timberwolves could potentially use some more explosiveness in the backcourt.

Mike Conley is 38 years old. Rob Dillingham hasn't grown up yet. Aside from Anthony Edwards and occasionally Donte DiVincenzo, the guard spot isn't great for the Wolves.

If they want to add depth there, they don't have to look far.

They could sign the player that Bleacher Report labels as the No. 5 free agent in the NBA right now: Tristen Newton.

This is just a logical connection, because Newton is playing in the G League for the Iowa Wolves where he's pouring in 26.7 points per game.

Newton has spent time with the Timberwolves in the past.
