A new medical mystery series has gripped viewers , and been hailed for its “high tension” and “insanely sinister” themes .

The Crystal Cuckoo is a six-part Spanish series adapted from the book of the same name by Javier Castillo. The series follows a first-year medical resident, Clara Merlo (played by Catalina Sopelana), who gets a second chance at life after a heart transplant following a sudden cardiac arrest. As she recovers, she seeks to find out more about her donor, travelling to his remote, secret-filled village.

However, she soon realises the heart that’s now hers once belonged to a man who suffered a disturbing tragedy, and becomes entangled in a web of mystery as the village faces a new disappearance - the eleventh in 30 years. As she searches for the truth behind a decades
