Ryan Leonard has received most of the attention among the Washington Capitals’ rookies this season with good reason, given his pedigree as a first-round draft pick and his high-flying offensive talent.
But Justin Sourdif, whom the Capitals acquired in a trade over the summer, is making a case to change that. Sourdif, 23, played his 27th NHL game Monday night and had two assists in Washington’s 5-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets while centering the Capitals’ second line.
