FARGO — Screams of joy poured from inside the Fargo North Spartans locker room into the John E. Carlson Coliseum Tuesday night.
North topped Fargo Shanley 3-2 in a metro East Region boys hockey matchup on a snowy evening in north Fargo.
“We went hard,” said Spartans forward Peyton Rohrich. “We had our ups and downs and it really showed.”
North forward Alex McComb buried the game-winning goal at 9:51 left in the third period to take a one-goal lead. McComb, who appeared to hurt himself during his goal celebration, was assisted by Kellen Dougherty.
Twenty-five seconds earlier, the Deacons tied the game at 2-2. Forward Max Hofer tucked a loose puck in front of the crease on an assist from Ben Tinguely at 10:16 remaining in the third.
Shanley defenseman Ryan Olsonawski opened the scoring
