CHARLESTON, W.Va. — There will be targeted enforcement areas on the West Virginia Turnpike during the Thanksgiving travel period.

West Virginia Parkways Authority Executive Director Chuck Smith said they’ve added state police troopers who will do speed enforcement in some normal problem spots.

“This will help get the point across in areas that are of critical concern due to speed and congestion. We just want to slow people down a little bit,” Smith said.

Travelers will also notice flaggers at the toll plazas and fully-staffed toll booths.

Smith said they expect approximately 740,000 transactions between now and Sunday night. He said Wednesday and Sunday will be the busiest days.
