The holidays can be a time of abundance and feasting with a bursting social calendar for some, but they can also throw into relief deprivation, hunger and loneliness for others. Thankfully, there are organizations and individuals who step up to compensate for the missing resources through food drives, monetary donations and other contributions.
If you consider giving a must-do priority this year-end, here are some of the ways to contribute in the mid-Hudson Valley, and a few recent efforts that can offer further inspiration. Local groups are helping their neighbors through food pantries, toy drives, holiday meal donations and fundraisers.
