Wingate outscored Hawaii Hilo by 10 points in the fourth quarter to rally to a 64-56 win Tuesday in the Big Island Classic at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.
The Vulcans led 46-44 entering the final quarter, but about halfway through, Laura Montiel made the go-ahead layup as the Bulldogs went up 52-50. The teams traded baskets until Wingate went up for good on a Montiel free throw with 3:40 to play.
Kyleigh Bacon of Wingate was game-high with 23 points and eight rebounds. Montiel, with 11 points, was the only other Bulldog in double figures. Keirstyn Agonias led the Vulcans with 14 points and Brooke Samura and KeanuMarie Huihui added 12 apiece.
