Mackinac Bridge officials have announced a high wind warning in effect for motorists driving across bridge on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
"Currently we are experiencing winds of sufficient force in the Straits area (20-34 mph) to issue a warning to all motorists preparing to cross the Mackinac Bridge," the MBA website says.
Winds could gust as high as 50 mph through Thursday night, Nov. 27, in areas of eastern Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service .
"Strong winds will blow around loose objects, including blowing and drifting snow. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," the weather service said. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially in combination with snowfall. Use extra caution."
