Value City Furniture’s parent company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, announcing plans to sell company assets and close additional stores, including in Michigan and other states.

Parent company American Signature Inc. announced the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in a press release on Sunday, Nov. 23. The filings typically allow companies to reorganize with hopes of keeping businesses open and paying creditors over time, according to the United States Courts.
