SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. —
A Swain County man is facing charges after an investigation into animal cruelty, according to the sheriff's office.
Troy Fulford, 57, of Bryson City, North Carolina, is charged with abandonment of animal and cruelty to animals related to the mistreatment of a dog.

Fulford was arrested on Nov. 20 after an ongoing investigation into animal cruelty in the Stillhouse Branch Road community of Swain County.
Following his arrest, Fulford was issued a $7,500 secured bond.
