Two-child benefit cap scrapped from April - what it means for you (Image: Shared Content Unit)
Rachel Reeves is using her Autumn Budget to scrap the controversial two-child benefit cap.
The two-child benefit cap, which prevents low-income families from claiming further means-tested benefits for a third or subsequent child born after 6 April 2017, affects those claiming Universal Credit and Tax Credits.
Introduced by the Conservatives in April 2017, the policy has been heavily criticised by campaigners who argue that it pushes thousands of children into poverty.
According to documents published ahead of the Budget by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), the cap will be abolished from April.
The OBR estimates that the removal of the two-child benefit cap will cost £3 billion
