Rachel Reeves has promised to cut fuel bills by £150 in a major cost of living measure in her Budget. The Chancellor said the move would come into force from April next year.
It came after her Budget was accidentally leaked half an hour before she made her speech in the Commons. Labour went into the general election promising to cut energy costs by £300, but typical annual bills are around £187 higher than they were.
She told MPs a cut to green levies would result in a £150 cut from average bills from next Spring .
