Photographer: Gary Rensberger
Photo taken: July 2 on Lake Sammamish in Redmond
Photographer’s description: “While kayaking, a heron flew low in front of me and landed 40 feet away. I knew they only land in the lake if they see a fish, and it did. Had to react quick to get this before he ate it. Sony A1.”
Critique: “A key element to photographing wildlife in their natural habitat is timing. You mastered this mealtime, midgulp moment. Photographing at a low angle around natural elements added nice context and depth to the photo which framed this bird very well. Thank you for sharing this moment with us!”
