FARGO — North Dakota State wide receiver Bryce Lance and quarterback Cole Payton have been named among the 30 finalists for the Walter Payton Award, which is annually awarded to the top offensive player in NCAA Division I FCS.

NDSU has had 10 previous finalists, including former QB Trey Lance, who was the 2019 Payton Award winner.

Bryce Lance, from Marshall, Minnesota, is the younger brother of Trey Lance. Bryce has 50 catches for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 regular season games. The Payton is based on regular-season performance.

Cole Payton completed 74% (157 of 212) of his passes for 2,618 yards and 15 touchdowns with four interceptions in 12 regular season games. He's also rushed for 791 yards and 13 TDs on 130 attempts.
