Riley Collins, 12, loves playing flag football — not just because there is a lot of action but because she is involved in every play.

“I also get to be aggressive,” said Riley, a quarterback with the Oregon Lady Eagles flag football team. “We get to show that girls are just as good if not better than the boys.”

After winning their regional NFL Flag championships, three teams — girls 10 and under, 12 and under, and 14 and under — will represent the Indianapolis Colts at the NFL Flag National Championships in Canton in July, joining elite teams from across the country in one of the nation’s fastest-growing youth sports.
